PATRIC’S STORY

Patric Young’s story is defined by grit, faith, and resilience. Once a Florida Gators basketball player, his life took a dramatic turn in 2022 when a car accident left him paralyzed from the waist down. What could have marked the end of his story instead became the beginning of a new mission: life is today and deserves to be lived no matter your circumstances.

That mission became the heartbeat of Sit to Rise. Patric set out to capture not just the pain of his journey, but also the hope, faith, and determination that carried him through it.

Just three to four months after the accident—while Patric was still figuring out how to navigate his new reality—Johnson and Johnson invited him to speak. He said yes, even though he was still deep in the healing process. That first talk led to more invitations, and he couldn’t believe how quickly it snowballed. What surprised him most wasn’t just the response, but how people from completely different walks of life connected with his story. It gave him something he desperately needed: hope.

WORKING WITH STREAMLINE

That’s when Patric decided it was time to write his story down. But the idea of tackling a book, especially while still in recovery, felt overwhelming. As he described it: “It is a monster if you do not have experience.”

With the support of Streamline Books, the process shifted from intimidating to exciting, and the story that once felt too heavy to carry began to take shape. His writing coach walked with him through every chapter, helping him find the words when they felt stuck and the courage when the story felt too raw. Together, they shaped something Patric could be proud of.

“Will did a master class job guiding me with every aspect (structure, thinking, getting stuff out, game planning for getting stuff done) and I love the questioning process that was transcribed. I mean, it truly combated writer’s block for me.”

THE ROI

Publishing Sit to Rise set something in motion. Companies wanted him to speak. Podcasters wanted to hear his story. Audiences he’d never dreamed of reaching began connecting with his message. But it was after his second Johnson and Johnson event that everything shifted. A man came up to him and said five words: “You saved my life.” He’d had a plan; a final plan. Patric’s story gave him a reason to reconsider.

That moment, and so many others like it, remind Patric why he keeps showing up. He doesn’t claim to have all the answers, but he’s learned this much: getting out of bed matters. Your story, messy and incomplete as it might feel, matters.

The messages kept coming. Notes from strangers. Conversations with people who said his story gave them language for their own pain. But one stood out. A mother bought the book for her college-age son, who shared it with his friends. When Patric later saw that same copy, the inside cover held thirty signatures. It was living proof that one book had passed through dozens of hands, leaving a quiet trail of impact he’d never fully see.
