How Patric Young Found Purpose After Tragedy

PATRIC’S STORY

Patric Young’s story is defined by grit, faith, and resilience. Once a Florida Gators basketball star, his life took a dramatic turn in 2022 when a car accident left him paralyzed from the waist down. What could have marked the end of his story instead became the beginning of a new mission: helping others find purpose when their identity is shaken.

That mission became the heartbeat of Sit to Rise. Patric set out to capture not just the pain of his journey, but also the hope, faith, and determination that carried him through it. Writing a book, however, initially felt overwhelming. 

As Patric described it: “It is a monster if you do not have experience.” 

With the support of Streamline Books, the process shifted from intimidating to exciting, and the story that once felt too heavy to carry began to take shape.

WHAT MADE IT ALL WORTH IT?

Publishing Sit to Rise opened doors Patric had never envisioned. Invitations to speak at companies, appear on podcasts, and connect with new audiences began flowing in, moving his career in directions he had never imagined.

The greatest impact, though, came from the readers. Patric received countless notes, conversations, and messages from people who had been deeply moved by his story.

One moment, in particular, stood out. A mother purchased the book for her college-age son, who then shared it with his friends. When Patric later saw that copy, the inside pages were filled with thirty signatures; evidence of peers who had each read it. That single book had traveled through dozens of hands, sparking conversations and leaving a trail of impact.

ALIGNMENT AND PURPOSE

For Patric, the book provided more than opportunities. It gave him freedom and alignment. It allowed him to say yes to meaningful engagements, to give away copies without hesitation, and to focus on building momentum in his career. More importantly, it confirmed that his work was pointing people toward something greater.
